Itinerary

Day 01 Saturday (24th June 17)

Welcome Onboard as we proceed to Goa.

• Welcome aboard the Maharajas’ Express.
• Join the Maharajas’ Express at Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus. After welcome and registration, board the train as it proceeds to Goa.
• Dinner on board.
  Overnight on the Maharajas’ Express.

Day 02 Sunday (25th June 17)

Goa

• Arrive into Goa.
• After onboard breakfast, deboard to visit the Churches of North Goa including the Basilica of Bom Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where the remains of Saint Francis Xavier are preserved. Visit the Se Cathedral, just opposite the Basilica of Bom Jesus. The Se Cathedral was built to mark the conquest of Goa by the Portuguese after defeating a Muslim army.
• Return to the train for onboard lunch.
• Deboard at around 15:45 hrs to visit the Goa Chitra Museum, one of the finest private ethnographic museum in the state. The museum houses a collection of pottery, farming tools, musical instruments, carts and palanquins depicting the growth of civilization in Goa. Enjoy an ‘Indian Evening’ onboard.
• Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner onboard.

Day 03 Monday (26th June 17)

Goa – Hampi

• The train shall proceed to Hamper at around 05:00 hrs. Breakfast and lunch shall be served onboard.
• Arrive Hospet Railway Station and proceed to visit Anegundi Village. The sylvan village across the Tungabhadra river dates its history to the Neolithic Age. Interact with the locals and participate in activities to get a glimpse of the village life. Return to the comforts of Maharajas’ Express.
• Dinner shall be served onboard. Overnight on the Maharajas’ Express.
• Breakfast, lunch and dinner onboard.
  Overnight on the Maharajas’ Express.

Day 04 Tuesday (27th June 17)

Hampi

• After an early breakfast, proceed to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hampi. The group of monuments with several stone structures spread over a vast expanse speaks volumes about the highly developed Dravidian architectural style of the Vijayanagar empire. Prominent sites include Ganesha Statue, Virupaksha Temple, Narasimha Statute, Elephant Stables and the Vittala Temple complex, housing the Musical Pillars Temple and the Stone Chariot.
• Return to the train for lunch as the Maharajas’ Express proceeds to Mysore.
• Dinner shall be served onboard.
• Breakfast, lunch and Dinner onboard.
  Overnight on the Maharajas’ Express.

Day 05 Wednesday (28th June 17)

Mysore

• After onboard breakfast, visit the Wodeyar Palace popularly known as the Mysore Palace. The residence of the royal family of Mysore, the Palace is one of the largest in South India and house two ceremonial halls coupled with an array of courtyards, gardens and other buildings.
• Return to the train for lunch. After lunch proceed to visit the capital of Tipu Sultan – Shrirangapatnam.
• Return to the comforts of Maharajas’ Express. Dinner shall be served onboard.
• Maharajas’ Express proceeds for Ernakulam/Cochin.
• Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner on board.
  Overnight on the Maharajas’ Express.

Day 06 Thursday (29th June 17)

Cochin

• Arrive into Kerala – God’s Own Country.
• Breakfast and lunch shall be served onboard.
• After lunch, disembark to visit the Fort Cochin Area including Chinese Fishing Nets, Jewish Synagogue, Spice Shops followed by a cultural evening at an art center.
• Return to the train for dinner.
• Breakfast, lunch and dinner onboard.
  Overnight on the Maharajas’ Express.

Day 07 Friday (30th June 17)

Alleppey

• After onboard breakfast, proceed for a visit to a local Coir Factory to witness the art of Coir Making. Later proceed for a Cruise on a Covered Boat. Enjoy traditional lunch on this scenic cruise with coconut palms dotting the landscape.
• Return to the comforts of Maharajas’ Express.
• Breakfast on board; Lunch on a Boat Cruise; Dinner on board.
  Overnight on the Maharajas’ Express.

Day 08 Saturday (01st July 17)

Disembark in Trivandrum (Kochuvelli Railway Station)

• Early this morning, after breakfast, you will disembark at around 0800 hours at Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala. Bid farewell to the Maharajas’ Express as the journey comes to an end. The journey is over, but the memory of which, will live on forever!
• Breakfast on the Maharajas’ Express.

Note:

• It may be required to remove footwear to enter monuments, sites, temples at one or more or all destinations. Wherever possible, shoe covers shall be provided by the accompanying Maharajas’ Express staff.
• It would be prudent to carry umbrellas to protect from the sun and rain.
• All ‘Options’ / ‘Optional Tours’ are on chargeable basis and are subject to availability. Details and pricing will be made available on board during the journey.
• The itineraries and timings are subject to change, due to factors beyond our control such as ‘force majeure’ events, strikes, fairs, festivals, sport events, weather conditions, disruptions/diversions of rail services, re-routing of railway, closure of / restricted entry at a place of sightseeing, non-availability of venues etc.
• The tour will generally be organised as per details given above. However, one may please check any changes in the program/timings provided in the travel document during check in formalities and/or Check with Train General Manager during the tour for any last-minute changes/updates.
