The Maharaja Express is so luxurious that World Travel Awards has voted this train “The World’s Leading Luxury Train” five times in a row for the year 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. It is also one of the most expansive Trains of the World.

Operational since 2010 by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC). This luxurious train covers 4 circuits with more than 12 destinations across North-West and Central India, mainly it focus on the Land of Maharajas – Rajasthan. Operational time of train is between the months of October and April every year.

Train boasts of pneumatic suspension, Live television, Wifi, Attached bathroom, Dining cars, Bar, Lounge and Souvenir shop, larger cabins with roll-top baths and spacious sitting room are the Amenities to name a few.

Train has 23 carriages in total, which include Accommodation, Dining, Bar, Lounge, Generator and Storage cars. 5 star equivalent Accommodation is available in 14 guest carriages which has total passenger capacity of 84. The train also has a private bar called the Rajah Club. Categories here are divided into Deluxe Cabin, Junior Suite, Suite and Presidential Suite.

Deluxe cabin categories are limited to 5 carriages which comprises a total of 20 cabins accommodating approx. 40 passengers. There are a total of 18 cabins in the category of Junior Suites, and 04 categories of Suites available.

The Presidential suite which is built on an entire rail carriage, incorporating a separate sitting-cum-dining room, a master bedroom and bathroom with shower and bathtub, a twin bedroom and bathroom with shower. The Maharajas’ Express Presidential Suite is the first such rail carriage of its kind in the world for commercial use

Cabin Amenities of Maharaja Express includes LCD televisions, Direct dial phones, DVD player, internet, individual climate control and Electronic safe deposit box.

The train comprises two dining cars and a dedicated bar car. An on-board souvenir boutique offers tat for passengers. The train has on board water filtration plant.

A state of the art on board kitchen car designed to provide a range of cuisines to Rang mahal as well as Mayur Mahal dining cars with seating capacity of 42 guests at a time. Kitchen car is well equipped to offer traditional Indian cuisines along with Continental, Chinese and International cuisines to their VVip guests. The tariff is inclusive of IMFL drinks onboard.

It’s journey

This came into service by the year 2010, 8 years ago. The IRCTC and Cox and Kings India Ltd came into a joint venture in order to set up a company named as Royale Indian Rail Tours Ltd. This is mainly to monitor the operations and also the management of the Maharaja Express India. But, unfortunately it was terminated and the Maharajas is overseen by IRCTC only.

This train has around 23 carriages. It includes bar, lounge, accommodation, dining, etc. this part when you talk about the accommodation area, it is available in the form of 14 guest carriages, with the passenger capacity of around 84. Train specially has a lounge known as Rajah Club comprising of private bar with 2 dining car and a bar car which is a dedicated one too. You can even see a water filtration plant inside the train.

Dining car can accommodate of 43 guests at a time. You can also see an art kitchen which can provide in fact a lot of cuisines. These restaurants are named as Rang and Mayur Mahal. Mayur Mahal has a peacock feather and that turns as the theme of the restaurant. Mostly menus turn out to be the traditional types of cuisines.

There are various itineraries, where by the year 2012, The Maharajas introduced five different journeys such as Heritage of India, Treasures of India, Gems of India, Indian Panorama and the Indian Splendour.

Accommodation is available in 14 guest carriages that has a passenger capacity of 84. The restaurants are named as Mayur Mahal and Rang Mahal, out of which Mayur Mahal is famous because of the peacock feather kept as the theme and décor of that restaurant. Cuisines are all traditional and it has yummy ad delicious taste specially made for the guests in train.

Accommodation has deluxe cabins, suites, etc. Presidential suite is also there. In 2012, it introduced itineraries, which were 5 in numbers.
